Dishoom adds muscle to its box-office collection

Rohit Dhawan’s Dishoom, starring John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez, packed a punch at the box-office this weekend.

The film collected over Rs 39 crore during the first three days. If not for the severe monsoon across the country -- Assam, Bihar, Karnataka, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh -- the weekend collection would have easily crossed Rs 43 crore, if not more. Due to heavy rains that affected life in many areas, especially major cities like Gurgaon and Bengaluru, viewership numbers suffered.

The public is loving John, Varun and Akshaye Khanna in the film. John and  Varun's camaraderie has gone down well with the masses. Jacqueline and Varun's dance number Sau Tarah Sau Tarah Ke has also caught the eye

The action-thriller, which also marks Akshaye Khanna’s return to the big screen, has been appreciated by viewers across age-groups.

The film revolves around two cops (John & Varun), who go all out to save India’s top batsman, who gets kidnapped in the Middle-East ahead of a crucial match.

In a recent interview to SpotboyE.com, Akshaye had opened up about playing the villain in his comeback film. He said, “I don't mind playing a villain. I love it if it is entertaining and I can have fun. My role in Race and Humraaz was as entertaining as the ones essayed by the male leads of those films. The same is the case in Dishoom, where in fact I think I have the most entertaining role within the structure of the script.”
